Denis Zhdanov won the first prize
Denis Zhdanov (from Ukraine) has won the 56 International Piano Competition Maria Canals. The second prize was for Olga Kozlova (Rusia) and the third one Marco Hilpo (Finland). The results are available at competition webpage
Denis Zhdanov was born in 1988 in Chernigov, Ukraine. He is currently a student at the Imola International Piano Academy “Incontri con Maestro” under the tutelage of Professor L. Margarius and also Kiev National Music Academy of Ukraine with Professor B. Fedorov.
Denis is laureate of numerous international piano competitions, including: 3rd Tibilisi International Piano Competition in Georgia (WFIMC, 2005) – IV prize and special prize for the best performance of a classical sonata. 7th International Youth Piano Competition “Artur Rubinstein in Memoriam” un Bydgoszcz, Poland (EmCy, 2007) – I prize. 19th International Piano Competition “Roma – 2009 Chopin Prize”, Italy – I Prize and a special prize. Denis Zhdanov has performed with the National Symphonic Orchestra of Georgia, the Pomeranian Symphony Orchestra in Rome, “Simfonia Iuventus” Orchestra – Warsaw, Polish Camerata, playing such well-known conductors as Jan Hobson (USA), Jan Pomier (France), Nicola Samale (Itàlia) and others.
He regulary appears with recitals and as a soloist with orchestra in major cities of Poland, including main Philarmonic Halls of Warsaw, Krakow, Katovice, Lodz, Wroclaw.
He took part in two concerts of 1st, International Artur Rubinstein Piano Festival in Lodz, Poland in 2008.
